I am a household employer. How to file W2 for my employee and what is the deadline?
I hired a household employee in 2009 and I need to provide the W2. I went ssa website’s BSO (business service online) to enter the information and print the W2. However, when I entered the EIN and my name, it says that my employer information is not available.
What are my other options to file W2 and provide to the employee? Can I do this at IRS site or do I need some kind of software?
What is the deadline? I heard it is Jan 31st but what if I cannot provide by that time? Is there a form to file to extend the due date?
