Hi, I’m interested in booking a holiday through onthebeach.co.uk but I’ve read some bad reviews about them online (e.g people saying they called them the day after booking to say flight/hotel was full and charging more money to change the dates or upgrade to a different hotel). However, a friend used them before with no problems.

Just wondering if anyone else has had a good experience with them?

I have not used them but the British holiday business is littered with bankrupt companies and poor holidays in shoddy surroundings. There are some real bargains but the biggest chance of a disappointing holiday arises out of the cheapest holidays. On the Beach is a member of ABTA
(the Association of British Travel Agents), so it is a legitimate company. Nevertheless I would always suggest that you pay for a package holiday with a credit card like Mastercard or Visa as opposed to a charge card, debit card or by cash or cheque, since this affords the greatest protection for your money should the company go bust
