Online Dating Rules Relationship

“Friends with benefits” confusion (please no judging)?
I began a “friends with benefits” relationship with this guy about 6 months ago. We met on an online dating site. I set the initial ground rules (which of course are long gone now). All I wanted was sex-no cuddling, sleeping over, sweet talk, etc. He was the one who began trying to change things (I relented) and now we are in some sort of pseudo-relationship, which includes cuddling, sleeping over, love-type sex but no dating and he hasn’t taken his online dating profile down. Now I’m confused. He’s the one who started it and now I seem to be the one falling for him. He has stated that he fears committment but he was the one who started us down this path!
Does he just want me to want to be with him or do you think that he does like me but is just nervous? I can’t seem to get a straight answer out of him. What are your feelings about this? My friend used the old adage “Why buy the cow when you’re getting the milk for free?”. Agree?
Friends with benefits almost always includes confusion at some point or another. I’ve tried it before and it almost always crosses the line eventually. You have to figure out what you really want, originally you wanted a no strings attached sort of thing, then he began to do things to get attached but there are still no strings! haha, if that makes sense.
You need to figure out exactly what you want and why you want it, then let him know your feelings and try to get him to share his. If he doesn’t want to share his with you, then that’s his loss. Tell him you need to figure out something more definitive, either ‘friends with benefits’ or ‘commitment and benefits’ .
