Like everyone else is saying here, it has it’s good points and bad ones. One of the most important things is to have a plan as to how you will interact with people online.
Like when you meet someone and start to sent messages back and forth don’t just get lost in the conversation. Ask pointed questions. Interview them without making it seem like one. Notice if they can hold a conversation online. Do they have much to say and can they articulate well in their writing? You should take things real slow. Don’t move to phone conversations too soon. And if you meet someone you like that passes all your tests and is patient, them maybe you can try a date in person after a month or so. Like Bill said, it all depends on your maturity and the other person as well.
Back when I dated online i made many mistakes. Hope you take my advice.
