Dating an older man, Any tips?
I recently met an absolutly amazing man. He is 36 and im 24. I do adore him. He is also recently divorced. Has 2 kids and a step daughter who is nearly my age. Its all very complicated and kinda days of our lives but im so incredibly comfortable with him and i accept him for who he is. Ive dated older men before but never 12 years older. So any hints and tips, feedback? Yeah i need outside advice.
No its not for money. I work hard and make my own, i just love having his company. I do completely understand he has kids and they are adjusting.
I once dated a guy 11 years older than me..( 21/33) also recently divorced w/one kid..We were together for a year and a half and I have yet to be in another relationship where I feel as comfortable..His ex wife and kid moved back ‘home’ (another state about 10 hours away) and I was willing to go with him when he followed them (hey I understand being near your kid) but he said no. He ended up getting back with the ex. He told me later that he didn’t realize that I really loved him until the day he left. Figure that out.
It isnt so much the age thing as the fact that you are the rebound relationship.When a guy gets divorced,especially if its been many years of marriage, they have to go through a BIG adjustment. They may jump into a relationship because they are afraid of, or do not like being alone.It’s not just about the sex, laundry and cooking etc.But they are used to the intimacy of someone being there to share their day, and if the kids are gone too, it makes them even lonlier.Plus they have been through a divorce and now here is this pretty younger woman who wants them and there isnt the bickering and baggage that the marriage had.They may actually think they are in love but after sometime realize that they need to get their lives in order before they really have anything to give to another person. And we as women (especially when younger) are the ones who want to nurture and support. So we ‘fall’ for it. No one means to hurt the other but most of the time someone gets hurt.
